Some Teachings on the Value of Scripture...

Psalm 119: 105:  "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path"

Ephesians 6:17b:  "...the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

2 Timothy 3:16:  "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Hebrews 4:12:  "For the word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

Memorize the books of the Bible

At an early age, we teach our children the importance and necessity to stand alone on the Word of God (B-I-B-L-E).  It is extremely important to be able to locate passages of Scripture for meditation and devotion.  The Bible is broken into 2 sections: Old and New Testament with 66 books approved in the Protestant Cannon.  As individuals, as couples, as families your challenge is to memorize the books of the Bible in the order of the canon.  Because of the effort that this takes you are encouraged to stop by Pastor Frank's office and share your accomplisment.  Upon completition you will receive a certificate of accomplishment at the next available Church service and will be invited over to Pastor Frank and Bernetta's house for a celebration/fellowship meal of your choice.

Digging Deeper Into The Word:

We are challenged as a congregation to dig deeper in the Word of God.  As individuals, as a family, and even as groups in the Church--you are encouraged to read a book of the Old and New Testament.  (These books will be selected by the 4th year active elder).   When you finish the book(s) please sign the sheet in the Narthex.

2011: Isaiah (OT) and James (NT)

2012:  Proverbs (OT) and Hebrews (NT)
